Leading edge Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology is increasing in awareness in modern salon society. Using the highest quality standard technology and systems, Dermalux LED phototherapy treatment is determined by delivering key technical parameters that allow for skin specific cellular reactions to occur.
We answer some questions about LED phototherapy and the Dermalux system for those of you who are confused by keen about using this treatment…
What is phototherapy?
LED phototherapy is based on the principle that living cells have the ability to absorb, and can be influenced by light. Phototherapy treatments involve exposing the skin to low levels of beneficial light energy from the visible and infrared part of the light spectrum which work to energise cellular functions to stimulate various cellular processes with therapeutic effects.
What effects does light exposure have?
While we often associate light exposure with negative effects such as skin damage, the right kinds of light has many positive influences on the body. It helps us produce vitamin D and provides energy and serotonin. It can also promote healing, reduce inflammation and pain and prevent tissue damage. Whilst ongoing exposure to UV is very damaging, controlled levels of Red, Blue and Near infrared light are clinically proven to be beneficial.
What wavelengths are involved in phototherapy?
Dermalux systems use only clinically proven wavelengths delivered at the optimised intensity enabling effective photobiomodulation of targeted cells and skin tissue with proven results.
Red 633nm – Naturally stimulates skin rejuvenation and is clinically proven to increase the body’s natural form of cellular energy which kick starts the cells to regenerate faster. Red light is absorbs by fibroblasts increasing the synthesis of collagen and elastin for smoother firmer skin.
Blue 415nm – Has powerful antibacterial properties and offers effective treatment for all grades of acne without irritation. Blue light interacts with the bacteria creating a photodynamic reaction which results in bacterial destruction, helping reduce sebum production
Near Infrared 830nm – Works synergistically with Red light for optimum rejuvenation results, and is the most deeply absorbed wavelength targeting inflammatory process cells to accelerate tissue healing and reduce scarring.
What does phototherapy do to your skin?
Dermalux uses these wavelengths to heal and amend your skin, depending on your condition or concern. The LED wavelengths can increase collagen and elastin synthesis, reduce fine lines, improve complexion, stimulate circulation, restore radiance, reduce congesting and acne prone skin, regulate natural oil production, strengthen damaged capillaries, relieve pain and redness, and work as an advanced regenerating and healing treatment.
